5 Steps to a Youthful Complexion

5 Steps to a Youthful Complexion

We all know that age is just a number, but neglecting to take care of your skin can add years or even decades to your appearance regardless of the numerical time you have actually been alive.

There are thousands of beauty products on the market that promise younger looking skin or ageless benefits. This article will give you five simple tips you can implement on a daily basis that are quick, easy and kind to your wallet.

1. Hydration: this is number one on the list for a reason because it is the single most important tip to a youthful complexion. Boosting your daily water intake may be harder than you realize, so making it fun by adding slices of lemon or citrus will not only add flavor but it will also add antioxidants, vitamin C, potassium and magnesium all of which are important for a healthy glow. Green tea and green juice are also other alternatives that boost hydration and antioxidants.

2. Eat A Balanced Diet: do eat a lot of fruits and vegetables which are high in vitamins and minerals, boost your intake of omega fatty acids commonly found in superfoods such as avocados, nuts and fish, and drink chamomile tea which can be used to help treat inflammation and rashes commonly referred to as acne or eczema. Try to avoid processed foods, refined sugar, and caffeine in large quantities.

3. Moisturize and Wear SPF: regardless of the climate you should wear SPF on your face every day. An easy way to make sure your skin is protected is to find a moisturizer or foundation that already contains SPF. Sun damage not only causes wrinkles and sun spots, but it can leave you vulnerable to skin cancer.

4. Exfoliation: have a regular exfoliation and cleaning routine. Exfoliation unclogs pores, helps even skin tone, boosts circulation and lymphatic drainage, increases cell turnover and stimulates collagen synthesis. Try to avoid unnatural product or chemicals as much as possible. You can do this at home by using yogurt, oatmeal and rosewater as a scrub.

5. Get Proper Rest: your skin is the largest organ in your body, and is a very visual indicator that something may be off internally. The quickest cure to dull and sullen skin is a good nights rest.
